Three bent-over women gather leftover grain in a vast field after the harvest — an image steeped in silence and the dignity of simple labor. The color palette is muted and earthy: olive and brown tones of the fields mix with a pale, milky sky, creating a mood of melancholic, calm summer dusk. The composition, based on the rhythm of the bent silhouettes, gives the scene an almost sculptural monumentality, despite depicting a fleeting, everyday moment.
